Message: What does the Motorsports package add to the 01 4.7 CC Daks? I saw a nice one I'd like to get, and I was wondering what makes them better than the regular Daks.

Message: "In the eye of the beholder", as it were. Dodge offered these trucks (as well as Intrepids and Neons) as dealer-ordered only in the Spring of 2001, to celebrate Dodge's return to NASCAR. Dodge set an upper limit of 5000 each, but far less were actually made, primarily because of the narrow ordering "window" of about 45 days. 1028 Dodge Motorsports Limited Edition Dakotas were produced. The vast majority were red (like the Dodge Dealers/Evernham NASCAR team), but also came in silver and black. The package, a $635 option, included black 16x8 Sport wheels with a machined edge, 255/65/16 Goodyear Eagle #1 LS (no longer available) tires with raised yellow letters, Dodge Motorsports door decals, and a "Track Bag" with all kinds of logoed goodies. The package could be ordered on any Dakota except 4x4's and R/T's. A good number of them, fitting the performance image, were ordered by the dealers with 4.7 5-speeds and 3:92 gears. Someone could have, but I never heard of a 2.5 engine Dodge Motorsports. This site has the most info on the web. Pull up the two large posts under "search".

Message: My eyes behold my new truck QUITE well! This is definately a Motorsports Dak, 'cept there are no door decals and the tires are Eagle LS OWL. It's a black CC, and it's really packin'...even with no mods. I love it. Gotta get a black grille though...the chrome one just doesn't cut it.

Message: DR..Enjoy your CC! What drivetrain do you have? The chrome grille is now standard on the 2004 Sport. I had to replace mine after a rock flew over the wall from the other side of the interstate and dented the top edge. I discovered that the OEM painted version cost $60 more. My truck is black everything except for the grille, and since I have R/T wheels for daily driving, and a 3" drop, it separates my Dak from R/T's slightly.

Message: Being somewhat new to the Dak world, I'm going to have to find out what the drive train specifics are. I do know the drive shaft is huge and looks to be aluminum. I ordered a grille from someplace in Texas. It comes black, but I'll probably paint it anyway. Can't wait...I don't like the chrome at all.
