Message: Mack, I'm with you on the engine code sh!t. I have a 4.7 5-speed, and it's showing a code every 3 weeks. I don't know what a 441 code is, but there are links to a page that describes all the code variants. It's worth your trouble to print it out. Autozone is a big help, but if it's anything like the 442 code, it's the "needle in the haystack" code. Best of luck.

Message: With the P0442,
try tightening, or even replacing the gas cap. Don't use a cheap after market one though.
When that code is stored, even if you fix the cap, it doesn't turn off right away!

Message: Mack, check out a Haynes manual. My manual is for 1999 r/t's but the codes are the same. This says you might need to replace the EVAP canister. I don't know if the canister is in the same placeas a 99 but I'm sure Autozone could help . There is a note in here that says all emission control systems are protected by a Federally-mandated warranty(5 years 0r 50,000 miles at the time this manual was written).

Message: Guys I have a 02 Ram QC with the 4.7l. It kicked the 441 code i found 3 pieces of rotten vaccum line they used vac line for the vapor line and the gas vapors just rotted the line out replaced it with fuel like and have not had any other trouble. I did invest in the evap solenoid and the leak valve just as a precaution but have nto installed them yet.

Message: I have a 2001 QC V6 and I keep getting the code too. I replaced the gas cap and the solenoid and still get the code.
jermo69 - do you recommend replacing the lines? How much fuel line did you need?

Message: Look for cracked or dry rot hoses with the evaporator / fuel return lines. It isn't always the fuel cap, even though that is also a source of problems.
