Subject: Squeaking noise in the front end IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 Dak that is making a terrible squeaking noise. It is coming from the drivers side front end. It is not the brakes, I know what they sound like. It is a much louder deeper squeak. The noise is not always there. I went to take it to midas today to see what they said, and it did not make any noise. (I did not take it once I was half way there and it did not make any noise) When it is making the noise I can bounce the front end and duplicate it.
Could this be the ball joints? I noticed in other posts that it is a common problem. Any help would be great.
Thanks
Dave

Message: Just lubricate your anti-sway bar bushings. After time the bushings stick to the sway bar instead of allowing the bar to move/glide inside the bushing. This causes a creaking sound which is very annoying. It's a lot more common with urethane bushings. To solve the problem for good you can get greasable bushings or make your stock ones greasable by removing them and drilling a hole through the bracket and bushing, then install zerk fittings on the bracket.

Message: I put a post in here previously about this. I think it was in the "general" forum. Pull your bushings and apply an anti-sieze compound on the bar and bushing before putting back. The compound will stand up to heat and moisture for a long time and provide good lubrication.

Message: You may want to replacee the upper control arm bushings, and the sway bar with polyurethane...Daks have the upper arm bushings very close to the exhaust manifold, there known for burning up... you should be able to see em with your hood open, it their all cracked up, its time to replace them.
