Message: Okay folks, checked the history forums and got a 50/50 conclusion. The Sylvania Silverstar bulbs...are they worth the $40 or should I look at something else? BTW...R/T's goin in the shop soon, wife rearended an Acura the other day and there is about $2000.00 worth of damage. But on the good side there were some chips and such in the front in areas unaffected by the crash that the body shop said they'll take care of for me free of charge. '00 R/T, CC, Amber Fire

Message: I wouldnt get the sylvanias, Go with Piaa Extreme whites. Piaa's are a bit on the pricey side, but WELL worth it. The are a very white light with a Tint of bluish purple. Ive been using Piaa's for the pastfive years or so and i have no complaints. Bulb life is exceptional.

Message: Some co-workers have tried to get me into the colored lights but I don't drive a honda so I wasn't interested. The PIAA's aren't like that are they? The only thing I'm interested in is better visibility right now, will probably be lookin into the Euro-Diamond headlights in a couple months but right now I have a $500 deductible to cover for my repairs. Half of my driving is at night so I'd just like to be able to see right now. '00 Amber Fire R/T CC

Message: The Piaa's arent Ricey bulbs. The actually put out like 35% more light than regular bulbs. I currently use the Extreme whites and they are awesome. These bulbs dont create a blue light like you see on wannabe racer Hondas and acuras.... they are a lot whiter and brighter.

Message: are they a lot brighter than the sylvanias? I have the diamond clear headlights and was wanting a different bulb later on b/c the sylvanias sorta have a yellow look to them and I want something that is whiter.

Message: I second Dakotafreak...I have PIAA Extreme Whites in my 04' Durango all around (fog lights, front turn signal/marker lights, reverse lights, even my license plate marker light!!) the only downer is that my headlight bulb is a H13 and it's a new size bulb some automakers are using now..no aftermarket company has come out with one yet:
My bulbs:
Fogs = 9007 (HB4)
Front turn/marker = 3157
Reverse lights = 3156
License plate = 168
All PIAA's....after putting in my fogs and looking at them vs. my headlights....no comparision the PIAA's rock! I could drive with my fogs alone if I wanted too!!

Message: Plus, they do make amber bulbs for winter and rain driving conditions. Ohhh, another thing..... If you ever see those HID bulbs in BMW's and Mercedes's, Piaa makes bulbs that look exactly like those at the fraction of cost. The only thing with those is that they are mostly for the look and not the performance of the bulb.

Message: I have a 99 5.2 5spd extd cab 4x4. I recently put in some 3A racing performance crystal hyper white bulbs. So far they have worked great. I got them at pep boys auto parts, part #46-9907, listed at 55/65W. With 4200 degree K. (for off road use only) or so it says on the box. Message: I just installed some Xenon bulbs (run $20 a piece but I got both for $7.92 with my discount) and they are f***ing INSANE! Low-beams are brighter than the stock high-beams! And the high-beams, W00T! Couple those with my already insanely bright fog-lights and I can do some pretty-good blinding of those idiots in the Beamers who ride up behind you with them on high all the time. Next step up is an HID system, but they cost too much.

Message: Silvania Silverstar has an H13 out. You can pick them up at AutoZone (or most large parts stores). They go for $20 a piece. They get better reviews than a lot of others. The color temp on them is ~4000K.
Apparantly, H13s are a brighter more efficient lamp and so coupling that with proprietary coatings to up the color temp of the lamp worried the DOT/NHTSA so they forbif them. So the manufacturers had to go through an appeals process to get them allowed, then go through the R&D on them, and then get them to manufacturing. Hence the delay with getting high color temp H13s (that could be legally sold/used in the US).
