I get this error p0161 -- "Oxygen sensor heater element not working properly"
I need help on where to start... If replacing this sensor is the key, anyone know where it's located? The truck is stock 01 with v8.

Thanks in advance

There is a TSB for an erroneous 02 heater performance code (#08-011-01). The repair is to flash the engine controller. If you have less than 80,000 miles it should be covered under your emissions warranty. This may not fix your problem but it is worth a try. This code sets due to the pcm not seeing the 02 sensor voltage drop a certain amount after a set amount of time on start up. If the flash does not clear your problem up, you may have a problem with your 02 heater circuit or the sensor itself. The heater circuit may be open or you may have a dirty connection. The 02 is located in the exhaust in front of the first catalytic converter (depending on which emissions system your vehicle has) if you have a california emissions vehicle you may have up to five 02 sensors. Take a look at the connections and the wiring. Hope this helps.
