Subject: Intermintent cutting out..'92 5.2l

I've been haveing a problem with my '92 Dakota periodicly cutting out on me. Sometimes it will restart in 5 minutes other times 5 hours. It has new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, pick-up, fuel pump, battery cables and still does it. When it cuts out I have no spark and the fuel pump doesn't fire up when the key is turned. All my gauges and dash do work and it does crank over. I did a bit of research and found that others have had a similar problem. Sometimes it leads to a corroded splice in the wires between the underhood fuse box and the fire wall. It's 4 red&white wires. I checked it today and it was fine. I did find a splice though that is between the underhood fuse box and wash fluid bottle that had completely rotted away and was joined by only 2-3 stands of wire. It is 2 all white wires and a black. There was a single prong female plug on the end of the balck just past the splice. Does anyone know what these wires are? The truck started this morning before I did the checks. When I found the bad wires and had them apart it wouldnt start or even turn over. When I fixxed them it started up again with no problem. When it cuts out I do the key/code thing and get nothing. No check engine light or codes at all. When it finally does start again I do it and get a code 12 and 55. My book says a 12 means the battery or computer has recently been disconected and 55 is end of codes. Can anyone help me out here. I live in the middle of nowhere in Canada and when it dies I'm stuck.

Thanks
Tim
