I recently got the transfer case and transmission serviced at the dealer. Now I notice that there was a small amout of antifreeze on the floor of the garage the other morning. I checked the resevoir cold and at running temp and it is bone dry. I can't find any leaks. Nothing else on the floor. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON ??????

That's why you check the fluids every time you start your engine. I just payed a pretty good amount to have my tranny-pan gasket replaced. I had been over-looking my tranny-fluid during my morning checks, and it had gotten low due to the original gasket starting to leak at 105~106k. Luckily, no damage was done.

As for your instance, I'd fill the thing with plain water, run the engine for a few, then shut it down and let it sit overnight. If you have a puddle in the morning you have a leak. If not, the only thing I can imagine is that it wasn't checked for an insane amount of time and slowly evaporated. Still, you'd think the dealer would catch it!

The dealer won't do anything you don't ask for. i had a vacuum leak that they never fixed and the truck had been there 4 times for them to get the cv boot on correctly. Because I never asked them to fix the vacuum leak they never did it. I did it myself. It was just a hose. Wester Dodge in monterey California is the worst. Two weeks ago the guy in front of me threw his keys at Jeff the service manager and walked out. It was pretty funny, classic lip service. I still love my truck no matter how inept the service dept is here in Monterey. Next truck will be bought in Salinas or San Jose

Yeah you can wear out the latch, if you drop the hood. I lower mine gently, then push it closed the PROPER way. Makes it last forever. I'd never slam a hood closed. Well, you gotta' slam the old steel hood on my friend's '53 Chevy!
