Subject: To Dual or not to Dual? IP: Logged
Message: Ok guys, I've heard that you can't install true duals on a dak unless you remove/reposition the spare. true of false?? W00t Yeah! I smoked a early 5.0 on street drag.. did it really stupid though, kicked her in 4wheel as not to loose traction on the hookup and then let her loose at 40mph (imagine doing that w/ a floor shift lockout) he was SKEERED!!

Message: Duals are over rated, they might look somewhat cooler but a single 3" or larger will provide more performance.

Message: I had dual on my 92 V8, now I have a single 3" flowmaster and I can notice much better performance. The duals look good and sound louder, but in my opinion is not as good, for my dak anyways.

Message: It really depends on if you are talking about a True Dual or just SI/DO. If you do the True dual you are going to get better flow. Check out the GSM exhaust. It is the best exhaust on the market right now for performance gains. IMO

Message: I have single out. I think these overhead cam motors are different than the pushrod motors we Americans are used to. Dual doesn't seem to be as good in the overhead cam motors, why???? who knows. I do know when I bought the truck it was fast out of the hole with stock muffler. I added the magnaflow and that's it. absolutely no change to the stock pipe.
the way I see it is do your changes at the motor first and make it want more exhaust before making the change. Then do the appropriate exhaust change to fit the motors needs.

Message: I've had cat-back Flowmaster 70 2 1/2" duals on both a '92 5.2 and a '01 4.7. Both showed improvement when low restriction air intake was used. For the left side pipe, weld a small "L" shaped bracket to the inside left frame to gently push the spare over to the right for clearance.

Message: True duals absolutely help out OHC motors, especially the 4.7L Dodge engine. Don't go any larger than 2.5" piping per side, though (for N/A). The thing is, you need to keep the exhaust flow/energy high by adding the ability to flow on the intake side.
The engine is a big air pump...it needs to suck in as well as it pushes out. Unbalance one side over the other, and performance could suffer...
