Been reading this forum since December 03. Bought my truck end of Jan 04. Owned lots of trucks but only one much older Dodge. Man what a feeling. My last truck was a Toyota Tacoma and it was a great vehicle and dependable. But this V8 Dakota kicks A$$. Drivability, performance, handling, engineering and class. I’m awed by the integration of mechanics, electronics, economy and POWER. I purchased the service manual on CD and found out that the computer monitors and controls everything, even the battery temperature. I know that there are a lot of complaints on these posts, but they are the exceptional few out of the hundreds of thousands of happy owners. You don’t normally here from the many happy owners like myself. 73 to all of you.

I traded an 02 v6 for an 04 4.7. I am pleased with the power and the feeling. A completely different truck with a 4.7.

I just got a 2000 4.7 last week and really enjoy it. I have not had a 5.2 or 5.9 so do not have those to compare with, beats the 5.0 Exploder hands down though!!!

Yeah, the 4.7 is a great motor. It's not that much slower than a 5.9, would beat one if the r/t driver sucked. Parents used to have 2wd quad cab 4.7, it was a good truck. I like my r/t a "little better" though:)

We like our 02 Dakota 4x4 Reg Cab, It has power not to bad of fuel mileage, great off-road, really no problems, on the reg cab too small wished we would of bought a Club Cab.

I had a 2002 4.7L RC and I liked it. I especially liked the 45re automatic behind the 4.7L.
I still like my 2000R/T 5.9L better. The only thing I wish my R/T had that the 4.7L did have is the 45re automatic. The 46re the R/T has SUCKS!
