 Subject: New to mods. 5.2L Dakota 4x4

What would anyone suggest for performance mods on a 4x? I guess I can't do much with gearing unless I want to change the whole mess of it. I would be starting from scratch since it is all stock as far as I know except for a newer computer chip. Something with faster response time if I remember right.

What year is it? If it's 1995 or prior, I can give you my setup for that config, which has me at around 19-20mpg average with combined city and highway driving, as well as adding a little extra torque.
