Message: mopar makes a performance pcm which is better than all the other after market chips. It replaces your entire computer and it just takes about 5 minutes to install you just unplug the old computer and plug the new one back in.
I have one that i will sell you, I used to have a 93 dakota with a 318 and when I sold it i took the mopar performance pcm out. They recommend you use 92 octane with it. When I bought it new it was $280. I will sell you mine for $75. It has just been sitting in my closet. Email me if you want it...

Message: Eh Chris, with that mopar performance pcm when you had it on your truck did your fuel mileage increase, also were you running a 180 stat, how about running on 87 octane fuel.
Most fuel stations where I live you only can get 87 octane, and mileage is a concern for me cause I do very long bush trips. (500+ miles)

Message: I didnt notice a difference in fuel mileage. It will run fine with 87 octane but 92 is recomended to prevent pinging due to the advanced timing.

Message: It will run fine, but will ping. Does this make any sense? The advanced timing is the whole reason you need higher octane fuel. Without it, as soon as you dig for power, it'll ping, and power disappears, as well as mileage. A 180 thermostat and headers will imcrease the margin you'll have with the HP PCM, meaning it'll take longer for the pinging to start, but there are countless complaints I've read from fellows who had these, and even with premium, they still had ping. Naturally, in cooler conditions, this is less of a problem. Marco, in your case you should stick with the stock PCM, and seek improvements in other areas. There's a reason they suggest premium fuel.
