Subject: Motor "Skipping" IP: Logged
Message: Just bought a 2000 R/T, and I was sitting in the driveway, listening to the exhaust so I revved it up a bit, about 3000rpm the motor seemed to do this thing where it'd "skip", hard to describe, it wasn't dieing, but it would almost cut out then keep reving. It only does it when I hit the gas hard, if I do a nice consistent increase on the throttle there's no problem. What do you think? Anything or should I quit worrying?

Message: Check the air-filter. Sounds like it's flooding slightly when floored from idle RPM. Mine would cut out a little before I put on my new housing which allows mad air into the engine.

Message: Thanks, I figured it was something along those lines.

Message: How many RPMs does it do this at? usually you hit the rev limiter sooner and FASTER when your not in gear, hence the skipping...
usually the rev limiter either cuts out fuel flow, or cuts spark to drop the rpms so you dont blow your motor revving it up.
