OK, I've had the truck to the local dealer three times now for tranny leaks. First time they ripped the old pan-gasket and replaced it. Next time they said that a few pan-screws were loose and tightened them. This morning they said the servo-bolt(s) were loose and they re-tightened them. I get home and rest for about an hour, then go down to clean up the boat for my planned outing tomorrow only to see a red river comming from the truck. I was NOT happy...
Now I've been under the truck few times recently to attempt to locate the problem myself, but I'm terrified of touching the tranny myself because they're so dang expensive. However, it looks like the thing is leaking above the pan-gasket, somewhere on the ledge where the tranny-fluid check/fill tube goes into the tranny itself. What is there in that area that could possibly leak? I wiggled the tube a little by hand, and it didn't move a hair where it goes into the tranny, so I doubt that's it. My problem is not being able to get down there and see into that part of the truck. Looking from the top doesn't reveal much, and down below it is useless.
Any ideas on this one? If this runs into any more cash, I'm going to price a brand-new tranny. No sense in dumping over a thousand into a frickin' tranny with 107k on it when a new one isn't that much more. Heck, the engine runs smooth and quiet, and the differentials are ownage.

OK, they figured out what it was. Apparently the guy who took my pan off back when I had them change the filter, fluid, and gasket was unable to pull the pan off, so he used a crowbar and bent the pan in the corner it's leaking from. They ordered a new one for me free of charge and will install it when it arrives.
My normal mechanic didn't do the fluid/gasket/filter change, it was some black guy I haven't seen before or since. Maybe he's new. Anyway I'm not pissed about it since they're handling the problem properly. Heck, the service tech who I always go to probably deserves an award for patience, haha! That guy never frowns and he hasn't gotten upset through any of this.

Sounds like somebody has some issues to work out! I simply mentioned the guy's race because I didn't have his name. If I was racist, I sure as hell wouldn't have spent months working on my BLACK friend JR's '87 Jag, I wouldn't take my BLACK friend Daniel out fishing or cruising in my boat, and I sure as hell wouldn't let my BLACK friend Percell into my house. It's idiots like you who keep the f*cking civil-war going. A white guy says 'black' and it's on. Black, you're obviously not wanted here. Wanted, don't give him the satisfaction of replying with BS. This guy sounds like a ten or eleven-year old, or a high-school teen at the most. I was wrong with the flame, but this guy needs to have some sense beaten into him.
Black, I know for a fact that you don't act like this in the real world because if you did you'd have been shot by a redneck by now or beat to a bloody pulp by somebody like me. Stop the "Oh I'm so helpless because my ancestors were slaves over 150yrs ago..." act because it is just plain pathetic. Yeah, we f*cked up, but it's the past.
As to your being held back comment, I suggest you do some research. Even though there are now as many blacks as whites (if not more) in America, you actually have MORE freedoms than I do. take for instance, starting your own business. If you and I both went into the same office to attempt to get a loan or grant for our own business (even if it is the exact same amount, exact same business, and we had the exact same credit), you'd have a MUCH better chance of getting the grant because even though you were born in America, you're a minority. If you think it's BS, look it up. The only thing holding people like you back is your fear of being friends with other races and your own lack of confidence. I appologize for the flame, but I'm not racist, and have actually been suspended for beating the hell out of a white guy back in HS for calling one of my black friends the derogitory word. So think what you want, but I hope you one day grow up and open your eyes.

Does anyone have anything to say about leaking Dakota trans? Mine (2000 RT) started to leak at ~ 60,000 km, is now at 117,000 km and has had the pan gasket replaced 5 times, once with a new pan, and the last time pan bolts just tightened. It still leaking, as always just enough to make a mess on the floor. I was able to clean the area above the pan thoroughly and visually inspect, can't see anything leaking above the pan gasket.
