With my 2000 Dodge Dakota 4.7 manual, my truck was working perfectly for years ever since i bought it new. About 12 month ago, i started getting the surging and low idling (amplified when the Environmentals were on) when I came to a stop; as time went on, the surging got worse. Replaced the Throttle Position Sensor ($35) and the problem appears to have gone away.
Thanks again!!!

Message: found this site while searching for answers on why my dakota was acting the way it was. my truck was doing exactly what you guys are describing here. acts like it's "slipping" out of gear when traveling at a steady speed. erratic idle speeds etc. changed the $30 sensor and it's like new. thanks for the info you guys put up here. I wish i would have found this place a long time ago. Thanks again.

Message: Alisa, if you can find the throttle body it should be opposite where the throttle cable connects to it.

Message: I recently bought a 2008 DAk QC 4.7 auto 44000 miles. It has developed a miss at any held speed 35 to 55 mph. Feel like you are running against a gusting head wind. Idle is good, acel is good. Changed top plugs with no change, tried gas additive no change. NO CODES. Any idea what the problem might be.

Message: Hey, my original thread. Haven't been here in a while. Mine has almost 203,000 on it now, typical issues, rust just starting around rear wheel wells (cause they stamp weld two pieces of steel together and dirt/salt stuff gets trapped) and warped rotors always come back, even with premium rotors/pads.
Couple other things I found -
1) transmission filter (flat one) seal is loose causes stalling when coming to a stoplight and sluggish starts when cold, air must leak in through this location. Solution replace filter/seal making sure it is tight fit, fixed transmission issues.
2) After 12 years A.C. needed freon.
3) heater core went bad, big job, needed some help on that one.
4) Ball joints on one side, inner tie-rod on other, hubs on both.
Just got 4th set of tires, 4th set of plugs (Autolite standards), 1st new shocks. Running pretty good even in the 100+ heat, except for fan clutch locking up a lot and robbing power/making noise.

Message: I have replaced the TPS, MAP, MAF sensors and still having the P00068 engine code popping up. It is doing the transmission slipping/sluggish start from a stop. I replaced the two vaccum lines as well. Any other suggestions?

Message: I had this engine surging issue where the rpm's would shoot up and I would lose power. I had the TPS code come up. I changed the TPS and still had the issue and light. I replaced the plug and wiring to the TPS. and eventually the PCM since it was under warranty anyway. Still had the light and the surging. I then replaced the IAC motor and it drives good now but I still have the TPS code. Have reset several times with the code reader but it immeadiately pops right back up. I have not put but a few miles on it since doing this. Does it possibly need some miles to adjust to the new TPS.
