Subject: Is this normal?

I just bought a new Sport 4X4 two weeks ago and have only 700 miles on it so far. I've noticed that the front driver's side tire is wearing more on the outer edge than the inner edge. All the other tires are wearing evenly. Also I've noticed that hitting rough pavement at highway speeds can cause the truck to bounce unpredictably a couple of inches or so to the left or right. Is any of this normal? I'm bringing it into the dealer in two days to have the uneven tire wear checked out.

No, it isn't. You're way out of alignment. Take it back to dealer and make him fix it. Consider having him replace the tire, too.

Yup, sounds like they might owe you a tire and an alignment unless you hit something to knock it out of whack. The bouncing thing can be typical, especially when hitting a bump in a turn. The stock shocks just aren't well suited to an unloaded truck. Better shocks or airing down your rear tires a bit will help if that's not an alignment issue.

The other guys are right, it's almost certainly an alignment issue. The bouncing thing is normal, because at highway speeds the rear of the truck may jump a little more than the front (light weight), and when it gets planted again it can be a little off course. Another couple of yards and it settles back on course.
