What OIL temp do you want to run a engine (4.7) at for best performance? Water temp is appearantly 180 deg. Does anyone have a oil temp gauge and/or cooler? Any benefits?

Good question. I'm not sure, but I'd guess somewhere between 180-220. I've only had one vehicle with an oil temp gauge, a 96 VW Jetta GLX. It routinely ran about 210 city, 230 on the highway which I thought was kinda high, but the dealer said not to worry unless it hit 295 (!). I switched to synthetic oil and the temps dropped to 195 city, 215 hwy.
