I am looking to buy a used 02 dak quad 4x4 auto 4.7v8. Initially I was looking at a new 04, but too much.
Can I get some smart guys here to give me advice on what this truck is like? What problems the 02's had that I should be looking for?
The guy treats it like a baby, only 22000 kms(sorry, i'm in canada).

I have a 02 4x4 4.7 sport plus and love it. I've had two problems to report so far and it only has 14,000 miles on it. The first one is: water on the passenger side floor. Caused by either a leaky window or air conditioning. Dealer corrected it. Never got an answer on what it really was. And the other is a rattle that has developed on the driver side front tire. I'm gonna have the dealer look at it when I have the oil changed this week. But all in all, I love the look and the feel of this truck.

I have close to 60,000 on my 4.7 02 the only thing I have changed is the oil and winter tires.My wife drives it and loves it. No problems at all

And what about the problems with front bearings? Is that still an issue for the 02's?
This used one is almost up on its 3 year warranty, wondering if when/if I buy it, if i should buy an extended warranty from Ye Ol' Doodge if the bearings are going to be a problem.

Hi how's it going,if your that worried I think you can purchase more warranty talk to the dealer and ask it cann't hurt.
Besides I have a 93 Dodge Dakota with 296000Km on it and the only things that are not OEM are the diff's the trans and the ball joints the front bearings are OEM parts, know another guy got a 92 with about the same km's and never replaced bearings either hope that will help you make your mind up, Oh yeah me and the other guy love these trucks they have been great!

I just bought an '02 QC. The seller tried to tell me his 7/70 warranty would transfer to me. Since I was laying down $16000 cash, I told him to get everything together so we could do the transfer at the purchase. Well, I called the Chrysler Warranty question number and gave them the vin. I found out that any '02 prior to July 8, 2002 came with a 7/100,000K warranty; only problem is it was NOT transferrable. I put up a squak and he finally figured out that he could buy an extended warranty (1000K) from Chrysler before the sale and then turn right around and transfer that to me. We ended up splitting the 1000K because I really wanted the truck. So, find out what the "in-service date" is for the truck based on the vin. It's going to cost alot more than $1000 to buy that warranty from a 3rd party vendor.
