What would cause my 5.2 to ping and run a little rough at a low RPM in overdrive? Tried higher octane gas & a tune up and it didn't help.

yes it can cause pinging, and hurt performance.

the bellypan gasket is the gasket between the manifold and the plenum. the stock manifold is a 2 piece unit. the best thing to do is just swap to the 2bbl M-1 manifold. it is a 1 pice unit, so you wonnt have to worry about the gasket, and you will pick up a lot more power.

kota on 20s is correct.

My 1995 Dakota 5.2L was a pinging beast. Autolite 3923s and 180 t-stats did reduce the pinging somewhat, but the pinging was still there. Higher octane gas did not resolve the problem.

Recently purchased and installed the M1, pinging has been virtually eliminated.

For 5.2/5.9L owners, don't even bother fixing the gasket, just get the M1 and the plenum pan gasket headache will go away.

It is a Mopar Intake Mainfold. You can get one from speedtweaks.net or krcperformance.com

They will hook you up with EVERYTHING you need to install it. Other place you have to buy some gaskets and dtuff extra...

From what I understand, there is not any modifications, other than plugging some of the ports on the intake manifold. Everyone that I have seen with one on have said that the task was easier than they thought. If you know your way around a wrench, you should not have too much trouble. If you are apprehensive about putting it on by yourself, check out prices (and credibility) of your local wrenches.
