Subject: Wax residue IP: Logged
Message: Anybody get wax residue showing up, not immediately after the wax job, but 2-3 days later? I completely buffed the truck and right after it came out of the do it yourself car wash it was fine, but then next few days after that the residue would show up. Im guessing it's a sign I might have overwaxed, as I did the Mothers 3 step process twice already this year, once in January and once a couple days ago to get it ready for the warmer months. LAst time I added an extra layer of the paste wax as the last step, but it seems like maybe Im over doing it. Any thoughts?

Message: Dude, get Meguiar's Gold Care. It's expensive, but it's all I use. I put on ten coats a year (five summer, five winter) and have never had anything like that happen. It *DID* happen once when I had my old Dak and used Turtle Wax. This gold care is the ULTIMATE stuff I've found though. Right next to Teflon. It is a cabanna(?) wax.

Message: Its kind of driving me nuts actually, seems like every time I get in the truck to drive somewhere new wax residue shows up that then has to be buffed out.

Message: Dude that sucks. What are you using? I've never heard of it THAT badly before. In fact I just put two coats of gold class on my truck Friday, one right after the other. No build-up showing. Truck looks good too! better than it did after not waxing it for six months due to snow, ice, and cold :p!

Message: Body panels. Like I said, I will hand buff the truck to the point where the wax is completely gone before leaving the do it yourself car wash. Then over the next couple weeks wax residue will show up again at random spots on the body panels that I will then have to buff out again. I currently use Mothers products.

Message: Are you washing it after waxing? What are you using to remove the wax? terry cloth towels, cotton diapers or cheese cloth?
Allways wash it right after waxing, dry with a chamois. To remove wax the best possible way is with cheese cloth and corn starch. No kidding, it works. Sprinkle corn starch on the surface, wipe with clean cheese cloth.

Message: Are you waxing in the shade? It sounds like you may be doing it in the sun. When you expose the wax to the sunlight it's nearly impossible to get it pollished out right. It may look like it is right after you get done, but after a couple days stuff gets attached to what you have not removed and it majically reappears. I always wax in the garage just to be sure. If you are still having problems, switch to a synthetic wax. They are easier to polish and they are supposed to protect and cover swrils better. I can't think of any now because I don't use them, I use Zymol. I'm old fashioned I guess, but someone here can point you to a good one I'm sure.
