Message: is the 5 speed tranny for the 3.9 the same they use for the 4.7? if i want to put the 4.7 in my truck would i need to swap trannys to? or are they the same and can bolt right up?
Message: The 3.9 and 4.7 use the same tranny,NV3500, from '00 to '03. However, they do have different bellhousings. You would need a 4.7 bellhousing for that swap. Also the electronics, motor mounts,etc. would be different. It's not as easy as a 3.9 to 318 or 360 swap.
