Subject: Custom Gauge Panels IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone installed a custom gauge panel on a 98-2000 Dakota or Ram? I've got mine ready to put in, but I'm hessitant to yank the needle off. They don't want to come off. Has anyone broken their Tac or Speedo trying to pull the needle off?

Message: Mine did not break, however be really carefull when pulling them off, use a golfing divot tool or a dinner fork and pull straight up on them. It is best to pull the whole cluster out to do the work. When placing the gauge panel make sure it is absolutely flat, especially around your speedo and tach, use super glue if you need to otherwise your needles will stick on the uneven surface. One other thing, make sure you can read your odometer and make sure you have everything perfect before placing the panel on permannetly.
Once you are done recalibrate them gauges using this link

Message: I put NuImage gauges on my truck and the needles were tight. I used the needle tool they gave me and slowly worked the tool under the needle while using my finger to keep the needle steady until i could pry it off.
I didn't have to take the whole cluster off to replace it. Oh and make sure you get any pieces that didn't come off with the main piece off. If you leave just a little bit of glue or a piece of the old gauge it will bubble big time and make it harder to get the needle just right.
to recalibrate the needles all you have to do is start the truck COLD. make a diagram of the needle positions. turn it off. replace gauges. turn truck on. Replace needle but don't take forever.
Did you get any instruction with the gauges and what kind of gauge did you get?

Message: Well, I managed to get it in without tearing anything up. I'm more nuts and bolts than plastic. Me and plastic don't get along. I couldn't push the needles back in all the way because they drag. But, it works.
Thanks for the tips guys!

Message: Took mine off with a screw driver. Just slide it under and turned slowly for leverage. Then took the neelde off the little round peice and stuck them back on. REason be is a painted over the tack and speedo with black paint and created a ghost flame effect with a skull in the middle. I have a digital speedo and monster tach so those arent needed. I found myself looking down instead of straight ahead at the guages i purchased. So they got covered up.
