This is where it always comes in handy to have a good single point unit handy (no computer, no electronics). Pop it in and fire it up. That way you isolate the problem. Since this has been my method for dealing with such problems, I've not looked at it from the angle you're trying. I'll have to look at it tonight. However, in your case, wouldn't it be easier to use the distributor for the V8 Dodge D100 pickup for '87?

I haven't seen either of those pickups. If It appears that you can use the eight slotted rotor then I would say that you can definetly use the 3.9 pickup and ECU.
Sorry, gen1dak I really should have pointed out I was thinking that his impression of "smooth reving" was not accurate. That's why I guessed that he was using the 3.9 shutter wheel.

I have done this same thing and I'm just curious if you got it running right and if so what was the solution to the problem???????
