I have Rancho RS5000's on my 2001 QC. Slightly harsher ride quality on rough pavement and off road. But nothing intolerable. Vast improvement in handeling in those same situations.

Shocks like the Edelbrock IAS or Bilsteins are better, but they also cost 2-3 times as much. Life's full of trade offs.

I put Monroe Relex shocks on mine. The more people you have in the cab (or load in the bed), the better they ride. They are a little stiff with just the driver. But, hey, its a truck, right?

The best price for shocks is at

www.A-1shocks.com

14.63 @ 91.8

Go with the Edelbrock IAS shocks if you can afford them. You won't be sorry. Besides $280 isn't a lot of money for a great set of shocks.

I put on a set of Rancho RSX shocks on my 99'Dakota 4+4, when Summit Racing had, buy 3 get 1 free . The total came to $180. I have had the Rancho 5,000 and the 9,000. The RSX's are the best ones that i have found for all around performance (towing, street, and off-roading.)

I just had a set of Edelbrock Performer IAS shocks put on my '97 2wd last week, and they are great. Very little body roll, nose doesn't dive as much when braking, and the sharp bumps from things like potholes are smoothed out. It's like shooting a bolt action rifle (stock shocks) vs. shooting a gas-operated semi auto (Edelbrock). Smoother kicks, but still firm.
