Subject: RE: lost oil pressure

I had the same problem with my 99' 5.2. last fall. The oil pressure would drop to "0" when I was driving at 70-75 mph's at times, but I never heard a noise from the motor. This also happened when I was driving around town. I took it to a shop, they took the pan down and found that the pickup on the pump was clogged with tiny hard black deposits. They put a new pump in and it has been fine since. I did ask them if there was a way to flush the oil out, they said yes but did not think it was a good idea. They said it might loosen up any leftover stuff and cause a blockage. I don't know how true it is, but after spending $800 on a new pump and main bearings ( incase them had some damage which they had just the slight sign of, nothing of any importance ), I decided not to. Hope I made the right choice.
