Subject: Clicking sound HELP! IP: Logged
Message: OK, First the specs....
99 DAK V8 5.2 SLT Ex Cab 3.55 All Stock under hood
My problem is when I accelerate under torque after the motor warms up I get a clicking sound. It's a random sound and not in any kind of pattern. To me it sound like 2 pieces of plactic are being hit together. My father said it was pre-ignition and I shouldnt worry, but It's driviing me nuts. It's very noticible with the windows down. The truck will not do it when the motor is cold, only after it warms up. I have gotten several suggestions from friends, many say it's the intake gasket, but I'm nut sure. When it does make this noise I cant notice any loss in power or any engion spuddering. I simply want the clicking to stop. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Message: Yeah, it might be the belly pan gasket but hopefully not. you should try a 180* thermostat and autolite 3923 plugs. the colder plugs and stat should help, if not then its likely the gasket.
just remove your airhat and (with the engine off) open the throttle and look down the bores with a flashlight. a little black on the intake floor is ok but wet oil means: a.) bad/sticking pcv valve or b.) belly pan gasket.
just my .02
