Subject: 4.7 torque mods only IP: Logged
Message: My 2001 has pretty good ummph. i only have the HO cams and k&n drop in installed. Im installing a fastman 68mm TB also. When do i draw the line for intake mods before i start to open the exhaust as well? Keeping in mind i want best possible trq first.

Message: You already should have put on a good 2.5" cat-back. I put on a Dynomax Ultraflo S/S system and the butt-dyno says it gave me an all around improvement. Plus, I got a slight mileage increase to boot.
I'm not endorsing this exhaust but, I am endorsing an after market performance exhaust if you want more power and torque. You just have to be sensible, no 3" true duals, etc.

Message: I was told by several 4.7 owners that the 4.7 has really good stock exhaust manifolds and that it does not justify the cost to spend 400-600 on headers for the 4.7....any thoughts or dynos?
How about a 3" single exhaust. I heard single is better for torque vs duals

Message: Don't know what gears you have, but switching to 4.10's will give you more torque (at the wheels).
I've also heard that headers are not much help on the 4.7.

Message: Shorty headers might give you 5-10 crank HP at the most. What you need are some true long tube headers, and a good merged collector. Other than that, you're wasting your time IMHO...

Message: Nope, and I just can't seem to get everything I need to fall together. I might sell the damn design to someone who's already set up to build this type of stuff...but then I can't guarantee price. Either way, it's not looking good.
