Message: I'm not an expert but have had my pre used 97 5.2 dak for a year now. My brake light stays on because mine is lowered that losens the tension in the cable therefore it's not able to come off that good so sometimes I have to pull the e-brake pedal up. I doubt this is the problem on yours but... if your dak is lowered just pull up on the actual e-brake pedal while holding the brake release. Had to replace the starter wires in the fuse box as well as the wires running to the starter at 34k 3 weex ago. As far as the ABS light I have no idea just trying to give ya a few suggestions. Hopefully this may help if not it will bring your prob back to the top of the list so that an expert on this site may be able to help you!!!!

Message: Alright. This is what happened with my 99. The speed sensor on the wheel, got all gunked up with tar and other junk etc. and what happened, is the sensor stops reading the speed. hense the break light comes on, because it doesnt know that you are breaking. Does your spedometer also blink out every once in a while? If so that is your problem. if not, I dont know. My Input

Message: I feel your pain. I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 reg cab. My truck is also a lemon. It has a lot of work yet to be done to it. The first thing that went wrong was fuel pump went bad. They replaced it,it went bad again.then the rear main seal had to be replaced twice before they had to replace the bottom end of the engine. then it started leaking again.then the front seals started leaking.the ball joints had to be replaced twice. the tie rod ends have just been replaced. now the fuel pump is messed up again, the radio has a malfunction, and there is a major vibration when you apply the brakes. sorry my husband just informed me Ileft some things out; the airconditionor, and will not hold alignment(realigned 4 times). they won't help me either...i've been trying for a year or more.

Message: I would check the date your Dodge was built.
Monday is a hang-over and Friday was getting
ready for the weekend. There is where the lemons
come into play.I guess I am lucky I have a 2000
dakota xtra cad 4x4 and never had a problem.
Sorry to those who have.I have a few friends with some of the same stuff going on.They both have had to change out the trannys. Good luck

Took it back to the shop what they found was during the work they got the brake light switch on the brake pedel out of wack and the switch was telling the computer that something was wrong with the abs. havnt had problem since. I have 125k on mine besides normal maintenance all I have done is water pump at 100k and I had a new clutch installed a month ago.
Good Luck

Message: It's weird. I have a '97 5.2 with 213k on it. I have never had a
major problem on my truck (knock on wood). The most I have ever
had was the one ball joint and control arm bushing. I just believe
every truck is going to be different. From what I heard, the '97
Dakotas were the last one's put together by hand instead of by
robots. So I mean. I don't know. Every truck is just different I
guess.
