It is a black 2001 single cab dakota with a 4.7 and a 5 speed. Im goin test drive it sometime this week. Im gonna trade in my 96. I cant take the 4cyl anymore. Any particular things to check out on this truck? I would hate to get a lemon cuz i have had my 96 for over 2 years and never had one problem. Thanks, Anthony

I have an 01 QC with the 4.7. I would definitely check to see if the PCM has been flashed (updated). There was a software problem that caused it idle too low sometimes and eventually shut off. Other than that, I haven't had any other problems with my QC. Good luck.

Sounds like a winner. I've enjoyed the 75K on my copy. Hope you get LSD rear with 3:92! '01 RC 4.7 5-spd 3:92 Get the wiring recall done, if not already.

My brother-in-law test drove it today. He lives by the dealership. Its an hour drive for me and i dont have time to go today. He said it looks perfect. My sister said it looks like it was never used at all. Hopefully, i will be drivin it home tomorrow. I will put up some pics if i get it. What is the best exhaust for the money? I dont want just some dual flowmasters. Thanks, Anthony

Sounds like a sweet truck Anthony. I just bought a similar 2001 dak (silver reg. cab 4.7 5 spd stnd). One thing to watch out for are the ball joints. DC didn't put grease fittings on the joints, and they will wear out prematurely. Dealer told me that factory replacement ball joints come with grease fittings now.
As for the exhaust question, check out www.mbrp.com. They offer a cool sounding system for the dakota, including one that has a roll pan and exhaust tips that represent the hemi cudas from the seventies.

I have a 2001 QC 4.7L...Check for bad ball joints, especially the uppers. Also, these engines are infamous for loss of oil pressure due to sludge in the crankcase.
Mine suffered from both problems!
