Message: Get an IAT adjuster from speedtweaks. Works better, gives you control over the IAT sensor. If you like that crap on ebay go to radio shak and get a resistor and put it in line with your IAT sensor. (Thats all the eBay guy is doing)

Message: Will this actually give you 20HP?? It claims that it tricks the computer to think that it has colder air coming in than what really is, so if you already have an intake will this actaully make a difference???

Message: Yes, it works by fooling the computer into thinking the inlet air is cooler, so it puts in more gas, but you will lose gas mileage and performance isn't that much improved. And it is not as simple as putting a resistor in the wiring, you have to know how much resistance, whether to use a fixed resistor or variable, and wiring it in is not simple unless you have had electronics training. Be careful what you do to a truck that is still under warranty!!!

Message: Billy,
There are two wires. How simple can you get? :0)
The major point is that the unit on Ebay is a total scam. It produces -maybe- 8 HP gains, no where near 20. It's also very cheaply made and not well researched. The IAT Adjuster from Speedtweaks is nicer, sealed, and has a variable adjustment on it. I think it's also got the wiring harness, so you can just clip it on...

Message: Only 2 wires, yes. As an Electronics Tech with 35 years experience, I have repaired a lot of things that someone else thought was simple. The most common thing is poor connections due to bad soldering or poor crimping. I agree that the SpeedTweaks one is the way to go and after looking up the item on Ebay and saw all his negative feedback, it re-inforces the validity of the SpeedTweaks option.

Message: By the way, Todd:
If that was an attempt at being derogatory, stuff it. I haven't been called Billy since 1963. I have been working on cars since 1964 and electronics since 1965. That includes 2 years of military electronics training, 1 year of Nuclear Power school, and 3 years of technical related college courses after getting out of the Navy.
If you had put your email address in, I would have told you this personally.

Message: Whoa, wasn't attempting to be derogitory. I apologize. I just don't like calling people -name-5281z or something. Calm down a bit.
The only reason I replied that way was because I felt your original post was somewhat intelligence insulting. I may not have your electronics background, but soldering on a resistor isn't exactly rocket sience (as a nuclear tech, you have to agree with me there).
However, with the shoddy workmanship most shadetree mechanics have, I agree they shouldn't do it unless they are prepared to do it -right-. I spent two days relocating my IAT sensor. Could have done it in an hour, but I wanted it done -right-. (I've since managed to drive through a much deeper puddle of water than I thought at higher speeds than I should, soaking the assembly. No short, I'm happy)
It's all good! I'm a little lazy with my Email, going to have to get a membership so I can just get that. BTW, it's posted now.

Message: sorry to butt in but,,,, Using a resistor,,,or the IAT adjuster on anything '01+ will trip a MIL light.
I think Billy there is abit full of himself. You 'HAVE' to have a fixed or variable? I think BILLY is selling it.
I've plently of electronics training,,why you could say I have a EE. However,,I didn't go to Nuclear Power School....?
The IAT adjust is the way to go. Even if you're just basing it on price. Isn't whatever is on Ebay, nearly the same price as the IAT adjuster? Does it look nearly as nice?

Message: The Timing Advance Kit on eBay is a scam...it's a 50cent resistor. I posted an email from one of his buyers (very displeased at that) on the other thread in the V6 forum.
The IAT Adjuster does work on '01+ models...but it depends on the PCM. Personally, until there's a way around the PCM checks, I recommend relocating the IAT sensor on 02+ models. O1 models are still questionable on which ones don't trip the MIL.

Message: ok super genius, I over reacted to Todd's remarks, you can butt out now. I am not selling anything, just trying to tactfully let Angel know that it is a ripoff and that messing with a vehicle under warranty might be a mistake. I already contacted him personally about the issue. HE gave his email address. I didn't say you "have" to have anything. And I work as a technician with a boat load of EE's. Believe it or not, some of them know so much theory that they can't put any of it into actual practice. My training is technology, not engineering. The few EE engineering courses that I was forced to take were exercises in math more than actual useful knowledge. And the best part of Nuclear Power School was the emphasis on physics and chemistry. Just electronics training alone won't make anyone understand what is going on in a fuel injected computerized engine. If I was full of myself, I might be calling myself Super Genius, but I would at least put in my email address. Good thing Bernd got involved, he has more credibility on this forum that you and I combined. By the way, while you were getting your EE, didn't they teach you any spelling or grammar?

I looked into getting the IAT adjuster but it is on backorder at speedtweaks. Just trying to look out so that no one gets juiced.

Message: If you buy this persons "Timing Advance Kit"...this is what you get for minimum $10:
http://www.speedtweaks.net/Images/kit.jpg
The really bad part about it is that the resistor value isn't even close to optimum range. The value of the resistor is 2.2K...this make the PCM think that the intake air temp is 140 degrees. (You'd might as well just leave the IAT sensor alone.)
