Message: Mine does the same thing, I'm thinking it may be something with the computer or the torque converter.

Message: The computer has no control on 1-2-3 shifting on the '93's, only the overdrive and torque converter. Start by checking the throttle and gearshift linkages. Has the fluid/filter been changed lately? Have the bands been adjusted? Otherwise, you may have a valve body malfunction or a sticking governor. If the throttle kickdown is loose or broken, this can cause shifting too soon or delayed depending on how it's positioned.

Message: I had a '92 5.2 once. The trans. cable near the right side of the throttle body has a little square cable tension adjuster. Hold the button in, and you can move the cable in or out. Try different shift points with this adjustment. Try one ratchet click at a time, so you can return to the original setting if need be.
