Message: alrighty guys... as some of you already know, i got er fired up yesterday. It took several weeks of big goof-ups to silly mistakes but with a the help of a few friends (on and off the net) i got er running!!
woot!!
i'll first soak your eyes with some pix from yesterday.
here is the motor sitting in her home nice and cozy
after having trouble with my timing, i had to remove my intake manifold and valley pan to check the stroke of the motor and to redo the distributor drive gear... while i had it off... i coated the intake with ceramic coating to match the exhaust... plus a nice little detail on the "Edelbrock"
here ya can see the matching manifolds... looks killer against the Intense Pearl Blue and my purty valve covers
just another valve cover shot... i can never have enough of these
here's the drivers side... my new brake booster to allow the covers to fit. Even though i have to remove the booster to remove the covers :(

Message: Intense, Nice truck and pictures.
Itīs pretty cool how the V8īs with carbs like yours looks much more beautiful for our eyes to see it because of the non wires needed for the fuel injection install..
Congratulations and if itīs possible give us a little of the song of your new motor as soon as possible!!!!

Message: Intense,
What cam are you running?
I had a PurpleShaft in my 400 that had 280 duration. At idle I didn't have enough vacuum to run my accessories. I installed a set of Rhoads lifters and that got my vacuum up over 10". That was just enough. I had to keep it in perfect tune to maintain that 10" vacuum. You even have the exact same manifold I had. That's bringing back over 15 years of memories there. Good job on the install. I think the Carb your running is the best one for that engine. I tried a Holley with vacuum secondaries and I never could get the secondaries to open properly. The spring that came with the carb was too strong and they kept the secondaries open. If I went to a spring that was weak enought to let the secondaries stay closed at idle they would start closing at the top end. At RPM's over 4000 the engine would actually start pulling enough vacuum that it would make the secondaries close and then the car would start slowing down. So then I put the heavier spring back in to overcome the vacuum at high RPMs and the seconaries would pop open while idling. There was no happy medium. The Edelbrock eliminates this hassel because the secondaries aren't dependent on fluctuating engine vacuum. It relies on air volume passing through the carb to open and close the secondaries which is the most accurate way to control the secondaries.

Message: thanx wiplash... i didnt know that about the eddie carbs. I had asked people before and never got an answer.
the cam i am running is a custom Crower cam.
.513/.513 lift
284/300 duration
232/248 duration @ .050
right now it just looks like i need to get my timing set and stuff like that before i try to mess with the idle.
