i have a 97 5.2 auto and every once in a while when i really punch it (when starting from a stop or a slow roll) it shifts through the first couple gears and then it won't shift in to the next gear and it will rev up to 3000-3500 rpm's which puts it around 40 mph, and it won't shift into the next gear even if i come to a dead stop and then speed back up. but if i turn off the truck and then restart it then its fine.
i've had this happen twice now, any one have any ideas?
is my tranny going out or is it a sensor or what?
