I was wondering what everyone was doing about traction bars. I have been unable to really find any.

Does anyone have a diagram (with dimentions) of the traction bars that fit the r/t. My dad said that he can make up a set for me in about 10 minutes that will be better than any that you can buy.

Thanks

Traction bars are pretty simple devices. Look in any speed catalog for the general design. The only special dimension you need is the length. They should be long enough for the snubber to contact the foreward spring eye.

You could probably make some, but could turn out kind of crude.

A cheap method is a "pinion snubber"
You bolt on a bracket on top of the pinion housing with a rubber end on it. Something you can hook up and remove as needed (for the track). What you want is it to just touch the truck frame above it when you are sitting in the truck. Then when you hit the gas from dead stop and the weight shifts back it will transfer the weight down to the axle and to the tires instead of the SPRING action of the leafs compressing and decompressing with the weight shift causing a loss in traction. That setup could be built cheap.

Thanks...

I took some measurements, and looked at the lakewood pictures...after that I drew a diagram and my dad cut out all of the pieces in about 10 minutes, so now all that is left to do, is to test fit, weld them together, and bolt them on.

Thanks again

$.02:

Consider Roadmaster Active Suspendion (RAS) if what you've fabricated doesn't do the trick.

Works like traction bars (prevents spring wrap), booster springs and anti-sway bars in one package without damaging your springs.

Doesn't effect the ride under normal 'unloaded' driving either.
