 Subject: Off set rear axle

On my 2001 regular cab dakota 2wd 4.7l 5spd. stnd. the rear axle sits about 3/8" off to the passenger side. This causes the tire to stick out past the box on the passenger side, while the driver's side is flush. The truck has the handling package with P255 65R 16 tires. Is this normal or a problem with my truck? There is no indication that the axle has shifted in the u bolts and the leaf springs line up. Any ideas???????

Most likely it came that way off the assembly line. You could complain and get a replacement done underwarranty if you complain enough.
