Message: i'm getting ready to put some exhaust on my dakota with the 318. i want it to be realy loud and i want some advice about the catalytic converters. would it be louder to go with striaght pipes and have two catalytic converters one coming off of each header with a glasspack. or just go to one and split back up with two glasspacks after the catalytic converter. haha this is a little confusing but if you understand please reply
thanks

Message: I have a 97 318 ext. cab with a Y pipe right after the cat NO muflers at all and 2 1/4" pipe out the side right after the rear tires also 3" stainless tips as long as possible
sounds great!
not too much rap but sounds like a strong V-8.
Good luck

Message: Replace cat with high flow and go with no mufflers. You should set some car alarms off that way. After about a month you'll probably be posting "What's a good muffler to get" because the resonance in the cab will be pretty bad.

Message: I have a '94 with the 5.2 that has JBA headers, the factory Y-pipe, an aftermarket 3-inch convertor, a DynoMax 3-inch Stainless Super Turbo muffler and a 3-inch tailpipe. I ran it for a little while with just the convertor and no muffler, and it was obnoxiously loud. With the muffler and tailpipe in place, it's a lot more aggressive than the stock system, but it's not offensively loud.
