i have a 98 dakota that wont startin park any more and when I move the steering colum up and down the lights go on and off. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you have bad wiring up the steering
colum. Better get it fixed soon before a fire
starts.
It's not a big job to do yourself as long as you
don't have a air bag. If your 98 has one, better
let the dealer do the job and don't bend over in
front of them. It's NOT gonna be cheap from the
dealer.

I'll bet that you have 2 separate problems if your Dakota won't start in Park but does start in Neutral, it's the neutral safety switch. The lights going on/off when you tilt your steering wheel is probably the connector for the steering column harness not locked together all the way. You should definitely try to check the connection or take it to someone who can do this without charging you a lot. Good luck!
