Message: That is a relative question. Yes a dual will be loud, however the glasspacks are tuneable with the rings/bands you put in it so you can make it as loud or as quiet as you want.

Message: what if you just take the headers off, and have flames shooting out of the exhaust port on the heads, would you be able to hear the valves being destroyed over the sound of your inner fenders catching on fire?

Message: What if I take the hood and the front fenders off completely, then have some custom-made megaphone headers that stick straight out built for it? Would that be loud? I'm also thinking of mounting a a custom exhaust and routing it into the passenger compartment so I can hear its sweet sound!

Message: Jeep owners have had many attemps made at exausting behind the front wheels, however that generates heat issues in theat area and under the floor board and in the cab. That would make it louder. However if you want to you can route your exhaust through your framerails. That will be quiet and hides the true power of your engine. THat paticular mod is only done when there is not enough room for true exhaust headers and will not work on unibody cherokees which has no frame. The other mod you can do is remove the cat and get an IAT adjuster from Thefastman.com and that would net you a few horses and lots of noise. The downside to that is that doing so is a ticketable offense if caught.

Message: But I want it to be REALLY loud. Could I relocate my engine into the passenger compartment and maybe rig up some kind of helmet with flex tubing connected to the headers that would put the sound directly in my ears?

Message: If you want it that loud you are going to go deaf and get ticketed for disturbing the peace as most cities don't allow sounds over 93DB and human hheaaring starts to be lost at 70DB if I remember correctly.

Message: If you want it realy loud and showy, bolt on some straight pipes coming out the fender wells of the truck. Of course your going to need to make some modifications to the pipes.
First weld a bung into each pipe so you can mount a fuel injector there. This will make a real nice flame thrower and you'll be a big hit grillin dogs at the tail gate party.
Next mount a mini-microphone at the end of each pipe and amplify this sound through your 150,000W stereo that takes up the whole bed of the truck and small U-haul trailer towed behind. Hardest part of this mod is not getting bits of scorched microphone on your brat, all though it might make the dogs taste better.
Almost forgot, the extreme heat and flames coming off the front fenders at 55 mph will also serve nicely as a pseudo tanning booth. No worries about loosing your tan during the winter months anymore!

Message: I've never seen "tuneable" glass packs. I don't even think they exist.
Maybe he was thinking of "super traps" which have the rings you add or delete?
Open headers are loud as fuKK. On a stock engine you'll also come out of the hole slow as fuKK!

Message: I used to un-bolt my headers when drag racing. One night I didn't get the chance to bolt the pipes back up since they were kicking everyone out of the track for the night. It was 40 miles of desert freeway going home so I figured I would drive home with the exhaust uncapped.
What a mistake! By the time I got home my ears were ringing and I couldn't hear right for a day or two. Not to mention that I probably woke up the whole neighborhood pulling in at 1 am with the open exhaust. Ah, the good ol' days.
