Subject: 4.7 H.O. upgrade IP: Logged
Message: has anyone done this to there 4.7 in a dakota. if so is it a noticable difference in power and how long did it take to change out the cams and manifold or is it worth doing or would one of the cams from krcperformance be better

Message: Our 200 cams are the HO cams. Expect an increase of 20 ft/lb of torque across the whole rpm range. Great bang for the buck.

Message: the HO or krc 200 cams are definetly worth the money, and you might as well let them install it too they can do it quick and save you some time.

Message: how long does it take to do a complete install of the 200 cams, i wish i could have you install them but im clear up here in indiana. also what size throttlebody would make the best power after the cams, the only thing i have done to it so far is dual flowmaster exhaust and a 360airintake

Message: The guy that installed mine is a Dodge Tech and it only took him 2.5 hours. He could have done it quicker, but my truck was still kind of hot from the drive over to the shop. Just go by the Dodge or Jeep dealership and talk to some the Tech and see if any of them would be interested in doing the job on the side for cash.
Here is a list of my mods: '02 Dakota SLT CC+, 4.7L, auto, 360 airintakez, Roll-N-Lock, Rhino Liner, TPS adj, Relocated IAT, Removed Clutch Fan, Removed 3rd Cat, Autolite 3923, Gibson True Dual exhaust, 4.10s w/LSD, Fastman 68mm TB, ROE Controller, Robert Shaw 180 Tstat, Flex-a-lite ATC #31147, HO Cams, TMR Mod.
Dyno HP 212.2 RWHP/285.8 RWTQ.
As you can see I'm running the Fastman true 68 TB. Once you have the cams and open up your exhaust to like true duals, you could go to a larger TB like may be a 70mm.
Later...

Message: i dynoed 00 47l cc auto, 3.55 rear, 214rwhp @93 deg. at the speed limiter in 3rd ( 4200rpms), with just intake jet stage 2, i have since added a fastman 68mm, and 4.10's and cold air intakeand magnaflow duals. hmm i need to go dyno again when it stops snowing here. sounds like a cam swap along with these other mods would give me some very nice numbers.

Message: Yeah, I didn't gain a lot of max/peak HP, but over the entire powerband the HP was definately up. However at 3100rpm for example TQ is up by over 40ft.lbs as compared to a previous dyno. Intake air temp was @89.4F.
Still glad I gott'em.

Message: Interesting that Chris only compared his hp #s and not torque to yours. The HO cams give a big torque boost and that is more important with a truck.

If for real, you're the first to get anything from a Jet Stage 2, other than a paperweight.

Message: It can be difficult or at least time consuming to get a fair comparison. The main criticism of the Jet was that nobody could feel any difference after putting it on, but then a number of people said that they did notice a difference but after a few days the PCM "learned" its way around the changes made by the Jet. This was the same complaint as 5.2/5.9 owners had and since the Jet part number is the same for all 3 engines...
Since the 4.7 uses an entirely different crank signal than the LA engines, I can't see how the Jet chip could advance timing on the 4.7.
My experience is simply that my times didn't change at all with or without the chip.
