Message: Porting template? Is this a template used to port match the intake with heads and heads to exhaust?
Everyone I know uses a set of gaskets as templates when doing port work. I don't see the need for templates if you have a set of gaskets sitting on the bench?

Message: I have. It's been awhile and I don't have the dyno sheets readily available but I gained somewhere between 25-30 rwhp. Peaks will be moved up the rpm band however.

Message: dsw, your missing out, the most important part of porting is not the intake and exhaust "holes". it's the bowl area.

Message: DodgeDakota, I used a set of templates from Mopar when I reworked a set of 906 heads for my son's 440 engine. You have several pieces, patterns, that are used in the intake and exhaust port bowls. This will give much needed performance if you are careful and do a small amount at a time, checking with the templates frequently. I have reworked the head on a 200X Honda three wheeler, made a world of difference when I got through. Just be extra careful and don't hurry the process, you should be able to do it. The templates can be acquired through a Dodge Parts Service.

Would I sell to a Stamp fan? Not after you guys signed one of our CDN free agents, MLB Cole!

Not wanting the heads, just the templates, do you have them (the templates)
Stamps still rule.

Message: 00R/T CC ... I think I still have them somewhere. They're available at a dealer's parts dept. (may have to ordered in) for somewhere around $25 CDN.
Good luck on the season! I'm a huge Dunigan fan.

Message: 00R/T CC ... I bought a used set of heads from the States and used the templates on them. What with web posts floating around about cracks developing between the intake and exhaust valves I'd like to keep them in the event I have to port my stock heads. If you run into any problems getting them or if they going to charge you an arm or a leg let me know. I can get them at jobber's price but shipping costs to Alberta might not make them attractive. Good luck!

Message: Thanks, Ticats. Trip to the parts dept. this aft.
I had similar problem with the cracking between the seats on 2.2 Turbo heads (man, those things REALLY woke up with porting!) years ago, didn't hurt perf., and didn't leak coolant or anything, hard to say what it would do on the magnum heads...The 'fix' was to install bigger seats which would interlock with each other.
