i have a 91 dakota 4x4 with the 318, i'm going to be swapping a carburetor onto it but i'm concerned with whether the computer will still operate the dash correctly and shift the tranny into overdrive, any help?

It's from Mopar Performance. It has a section on doing exactly what you're concerned with. You change to the pre-TBI ignition (they sell the kit or you can low-buck with any early-mid 80's distributor/control box/ballast resistor). Anyway, it shows what wires to splice (not many) and then you're good. The computer still runs the rest of the show.
The Mopar Performance ignition kit also has the instructions on how to do this.
