Will a 98' 5.9 fit in place of a 93' 5.2 i have to replace the engine in my 93' and the 5.9 cost the same price. i can use any help i can get

Yep, it'll slide right in. Just need to get a 5.9 computer (one for the Ram full-size will work).

Make sure the '98 has the balancer and flexplate on it - the 5.9 is externally balanced where the 5.2 internally balanced. You might also want bigger injectors. Prior to '96, the 5.2 and 5.9 came with different sized injectors. Ideally, you'd also want the 5.9 computer.

Actually, Mopar went to zero-balance torque converters for the 360 in 1996. The balancing on '96 and up 360's is handled by the redesigned flexplate, so you could use the 318's torque converter, but you will need to have a pre-'96 flexplate balanced for the 360. MP sells the weights and any decent shop can handle this. You can't use the '96 up flexplates with pre-'96 converters because the bolt pattern was changed. It might be more convenient to stick with all '96-up hardware. Ain't never easy, is it?
