I there any difference in the 00 4.7 and a 01 4.7?
The 00 has the magnum badge 01 does not. Or is it just the badge on the fender?

as of '01 they pulled the badging from the Dakotas - except RT's.
I think the only difference in those years is the bore of the throttle body. I forget what it is,,but the '01 year has a slightly larger throttle body on it = better performance.
I don't think there were any other changes....

I kinda thought they added more cats, to three cats, hence a 3mm larger TB, 2001's and up 68mm.

Todd is correct. They added a cat and increased the bore of the tb in 2001.
I have a 2000 and I guess there are a few more differances.
2001 HAS
68mm Tb over the 65 of the 2000
IAT sensore is In a diff place
2001 has NO PCM options 2000 does (yay for me)
2001 and newer do not seem to have the vibrating gas peddle AS MUCH (some still have it)
otherwise Everything is the same or very simmelar.
In 2003 They got a new intake manafold I think but you don;t have to worrie about that.

So, the 2000's had only the two cats after the exhaust manifolds, and no cat at all before the muffler?

No, '00 had single cat before the muffler; unless you have the tougher emissions package (not just CA, also MA and others) then you got the precats too.

I have one cat. The 04`s I looked at had the two "pre-cats", no third cat. All in MA.
