Message: The third converter gets you qualified as a "low-emission vehicle".
Those stock converters are monolithic, and actually flow quite well.
Back pressure is bad. Exhaust flow velocity is good.

Message: No, 4.7Tirekilr's claim of a 4-5 mpg gain is BS. I replaced the stock muffler with a Gibson you can see straight through (no more resistance than a glass pack) and my milage stayed exactly the same. Which only makes sense,as no one has ever posted a dyno gain either after just a cat back exhaust replacement on a 4.7.
I also question Adam's answer, as the Dakotas with the third cat are commonly the ones with the Cali emissions package (adopted by many other states). That package doesn't have different noise level standards than the federal package, so it wouldn't make sense that those trucks would get a resonator that the others don't.

That would be the h.o. cams. They will give you 20-25 more hp.They fit right in.This site has 3 sets left.He had 5 sets i bought a set and my friend bought a set.Nick has 3 sets left as i post this. www,airram.com
Even if you wanted bigger then that, you'd need these one's to make any.

Message: Ive heard that a higher flow exhaust will give better gas milage. Even with a higher flow muffler the catalitic will still reduce flow. Even though ive heard of it theoretically getting better gas milage once you get an exhaust on your truck you tend to step on it a little more so you can hear it which will actually give you worse gas milage than if you keep it stock
