Message: For anyone that has a Dakota with the 5.9 looking to install the Poweraid throttle body spacer DONT! it creates one hell of a whistle under the hood. I emailed the factory and they said that it is normal because of the design, let me know if anyone has had this problem and if there is a way to fix it?

Message: Vaughn
I used to have the Poweraid (Airaid?) TB spacer on my 5.9. I took it off when I installed my Holley TB.
While I was using it, it never made any unusual sounds.

Message: Check you vacum lines and make sure you installed the spacer correctly. I don't think it gives you any performance gain on a stock intake system like the 3.9/5.2/5.9 has.

Message: It is a common sound you are experiencing, mine does it too as it has on most other's I have seen post regarding this. I can't hear it with the windows up, but on the few warm days we have had lately I noticed the whistling noise with the windows down and while accelerating or revving the motor. It's not annoying enough to make me take it out since I have gotten back some of the low/mid end torque that I lost after installing the catback exhaust without affecting my mpg good or bad.

Everything I have read about them from people that have had one come to one conclusion....

Message: Normal sound, means nothing except you're now aware of the amount of airflow as you step on the gas. Does it help? Does it hurt? Don't know, but I've spent money on stuff before that ended up only looking neat and doing nothing. Might take it off when I get an M1, might not! We'll see then.

Message: I have one on my 4.7 and it improved my torque. The whistling sound is the air as it goes through the grooves on the spacer. For maximum performance i recomend combininng it with an air intake system for your truck.i have the airaid quick fit and they work awsome together. My torque and top end were much better after i added the filter system.

Message: yeah... from what i have heard they only help the 4.7 and are just extra weight on a 3.9/5.2/5.9 because of the intake manifold design... they might work on the M1 intake though... dunno. i bought one really cheap (because nobody likes them) and i am drilling holes in the two sides and running a nitrous nozzle to each side of it to spray directly into the intake manifold. i think that is the only way to get use for them (Tom, thanx for the idea. CW, thanx for the TBS!)

Message: before i bought a poweraid plate i looked up some opinions like in here....(bought one anyway)while installing it i noted that someone could easilly install it backward(front in back) that would cause a whisle-sucking sound since it would be a vacuum leak.......the computer would compensate for it and probably would run ok.....BUT...go check under your hood....
i notice power right away.fuel eco is yet to be tested.......5.9 mag

Message: I bought a poweraid tb spacer for my 99 5.2 liter dakota, 5 speeds because my mechanic already been using one on a 3.9 liter automatic and love the increase of power on is.
Run it for few weeks with the stock air filter , it got a small power improvement with the low end 2nd and 3 rd gear, today i switch to a k&n air filter , to my surprise i keep hearing such a anoying whistling noise coming out underneath the hood, which is not a possibility for my daily commute.
After couple of weeks it seem that my fuel millaege was a bit worst then before. I will remove the spacer this week and I do not recommend this product for a 5.2 5 speeds but seem to be a great fit inside a 3.9 liter automatic.
