Two questions in this post (2000 QC 4.7L auto, sport 2wd) -

First, last night I hit a large dog or coyote. It appears no damage on front, however bumper looks flush with fender on damaged side, and a large dent on drivers door with cracked paint.
Dent is roughtly 4"x18" long, 1/2" deep. How should this be fixed? Is normal body work with putty strong enough to stay on the door, or should the door be replaced?

Second question - What tire is everybody replacing the 255/65R-15 with? It seems the only one which works out to roughly the same size is the 275/60R-15. I have 78,000+ (4 winters) on the originals and they are still fairly good. I would prefer just the same size (and brand) but nobody makes them.

About the first question....Sorry I dont know anything about body work.

The second question, replace your 255/65/15 with 255/70/15. They look basically the same as the 65's, but make your truck sit about .25" taller.

I have the 70's on my 99 Dak v8 and am very pleased with them. Also look on www.tirerack.com
They have some really good prices on tires of that size.

I can tell you alittle about body work get it done by a professional and you will have no problems. If the dent is pulled out right there will not be but a skim of bondo on it.
Alos just put a new set of 255/60/15 on my 98 I like them and they are easy to find
