Subject: Re:New Short Block IP: Logged
Message: I blew up my 2000 Dakota R/T motor a few weeks back...I would like to get a new Short Block from Mopar...My questions is about the pistons...From my understanding the stock piston were Hypereutectic and the new pistons are "Cast".Are these the same thing or alot different.I called Mopar and they told me that the stock pistons are a Cast too..Also does anyone know the Stock lift of a 2000 R/T cam,i know the new one is a .458 lift...
Thanks
Dave

Message: The lift of the cam that came in the R/Ts is .385 intake and .401" exhaust. The .458 cam is the Mopar Performance R/T cam. It is a different animal and never came stock in anything. The stock pistons have always been cast. Rebuild you short block and put hyperutectic pistons and a good cam.
