i have a 454 vortec with 4 11 and its a 3/4 quarter ton and i raced a hemi what a let down so much hype for a truck that showes nothing in power. in the start of the race it stayed with me intil i hit about 35 and at the end of the quarter mile i was almost 2 car lenths a head what a peace of junk dodge is puting shame to the hemi name

i use to beat hondas, focus' and all them 100 cubic inch FWD's in my V6 truck.

I beat a S-10 4.3 vortec with my 4.7 Dak, did I brag about it,, NO. It wasn't any competition.
Why don't you try a 350 Vortec against a Ram Hemi and see what happens? Hmmmm
I guess if Dodge put a 426 HEMI in a Ram it would you might change your tune.

You are a moron, and I wish someone as stupid as you did not share a name with me! Did you notice the 26 foot boat behind the hemi? Or maybe just the cloud of tire smoke killed the launch, and left 60 foot marks, and it couldn't catch back up. Maybe it was just a 4.7 liter, and you dont know the difference! Maybe it was a 4.7 with hemi badges. I have raced 454's with my 4x4 360 ram and beat them, so your big block must be extra special! Get a life, and stop hanging out on dodge websites.

Jeff, if you raced at a track, please share your time slip with us. That way we can judge if the hemi was really running up to par. I question because, I have a 2000 454, 3/4 ton, 4X4, 4.10 gears, crew cab, and it is a pig from 0-50mph, pulls harder from 50-100 than 0-50!

Everyone,
I know it's hard to do. Especially for me!!! But the best thing we can do to these Chevy-its, is not respond to their threads. This guy is obviously about 8 or 9 years old and is repeating things he heard from his Daddy after drinking about 12 too many Buds. I know, I'm one to be talking, but if we just ignore these idiots they will go away.

Ive been a chevy guy most of my life and I will, as will most other chevy guys agree that the hemi heads have some of the best flow numbers for stock cast heads out there.... I do find it unfair to comare a 454 with a smaller engine. Thats compairing apples with oranges....

NOt to start another flame, but this is interesting.
My friend said he was at the Nissan dealership recently talking with a salesman that he and I had both dealt with before.
So he was asking how the Titan did and they brought up the Hemi.
The salesman says to my friend... "see every car on this lot? Every Nissan engine here IS A HEMI! Dodge just maketed the name..." and was FIRST of course.
But he is kind of right. I remember when I first took apart some of the 1980's four bangers and saw that they were perfectly hemishperical and had the spark plug in the center of the intake and exhaust valve. I thought "this is a Hemi???" and the older mechanics working there said they were basically the same as a Hemi compared to our 302 Fords, 350 Chevy's, 360 Mopars, etc etc etc. We talked about this about 10 years ago.
The 4.7 is a Hemi design except for the quench area. Supposedly it is BETTER to have a quench area. From what I hear.
Anyway. I just thought that was funny. Lots of auto's are running around with hemispherical heads. Just Dodge has the NAME. It does sound COOL.

If I take my 4100lb R/T w/360ci and I go race every 4100lb truck/car I can find that has 100ci less than my truck I think I would beat 99% of them. What is the point here? I would hope that a 454 would beat a 350.

i thought the hemi was sooo bad it could smoke anything,i bet if you search on this site you could find stories about v-10 rams beating chevys,alot of guys on here talk about smoking v6 s10s.you only talk smack when its convienent.in theory a 454 could beat a hemi,its rated at 290hp.an 410tq.stock,not great hp.per cube but neither is the v-10,everbody on here needs to relax.BTW i own a dak an like it so lay off.

First of all, a comparison between the V10 Dodge and the 454 chevy would make much more sense than one between the 454 and the 348 Hemi since they are much closer to being the same size. There's only like 35 cubic inches difference between the 454 and Dodge's V10. If there is a thread on that I would like to read it because it would actually mean something. This whole thread is meaningless. I guess all Chevy Whores can relate to is useless and meaningless information. That's all you Chevy Whores ever talk about.

Graphite Dak, your right, as a BIG mopar hemi fan, I was shocked to see in the 1980's those little renault Alliances (remember those?) with badges on the side that said HEMI! Still, nothing quite like the Mopar Hemi that started in the early 50's. Just ask Ford when they tried to copy it in the late 60's and early 70's! But Ford DID have the first v-8 and Cadillac had the first OHvalve v-8 (i think ) in 1939. So they all pretty much copy each other.......p.s. the 4.7 would be best described as a "semi" hemi....

i know the the 454&v-10 would be a better comparison,i never said it wouldn't.i didn't say the 454 beating the hemi was impressive,i was pointing out how some guys on here get all bent out of shape when a dodge loses.i've seen numerous post on how v-8 daks beat v-6 s-10s i'm not mad about that.BTW you've used the word "CHEVY WHORES"about 40 times on other posts,you might want to find a cool new word to use
