Message: Ok d00d, I'm sorry I ever replied to you. I obviously overestimated your age as well as the validity of any statements you've made thus far. Ugh. Go to school or something man, you're making us all look bad. Back to the real world...
WTF,
Gus

Message: its cool gus don't worry about it.you just should have said it was modded,if i said i had a '83 305 would you automatically think it was bad?,but don't worry about it.if you've got to run 100+ octane in a 10.2 engine you got timing issues,or too short duration camshaft.BTW i have no idea what the hell jeff is talking about.his post made ZERO sense.the only way his mostly stock 454 would need that much octane is with a lot boost or a large shot of n20(thats nitrous jeff).his story is seeming to unravel the more he posts.

Message: Regarding our friend Jeff, I must concur; As for
the modding implication: If YOU were
responding to a post and offereing to race
someone, then yes I would assume your motor
was modded. Especially if you were offereing to
race with a 570lb 454 block in your bed; but
that's just me. Also, if you re-read my posts,
you'll see that I'm making 315 rwhp on PUMP
GAS (no detonation whatsoever), It just does
much better on race gas because of the cr. I run
93 octane during the week. Thats the way I set it
up. Thats the way I like it. Timing is 35 btdc,
although I sometimes advance it a few degrees
@ the track to take better advantage of the 112.
My cam is a Comp high energy .491 lift I believe,
and you're gonna love this - (whisper): I'm runnin
Chevy valves.
I forgot, you have to be registered and logged
into my message board to see some of the pix I
linked to in the previous posts - and I don't
blame u if u don't feel like doing all that, so
here's some interesting linx directly to some of
my pix if anyone cares:

Message: Well, the old-timers called it Av-Gas. It was what the old piston-motored planes ran. It was essentially 110oct without all the additives. It wasn't good to run it all the time in your car, but it was fine for running at the drag strip. I never understood why it was OK for an airplane motor, but not OK for a car motor. They both have pistons and rings with intake and exhaust valves.
A lot of the dirt drag trucks around here mix it 50/50 with 93oct. That gives them about a 100oct blend and it still has enough of the additives in the fuel that the manufactures claim you have to have.
