i have a 1993 dodge dakota single cab short bed with 3.55 my 5.2 has 230 hp with 300 ft pounds my question is if you got a new style dakota with the short bed and the 4.7 and the 3.55 which one would win also how much hp and foot pounds does the 4.7 have

the two engines have basically identical power however your truck is significantly lighter, thus assuming your engine is in good condition, you should win.

By "new" do you mean an engine that is 5 years old? The last 5.2 Daks were in '99. The '92-'93's had the largest exhaust manifolds of any 5.2 Magnum, and the GenII's were about 300 pounds lighter than GenIII, advantage-GenII. A 4.7 5-speed 3:92 is comparable to a '93 5.2 3:55, both regular cabs. You would just about have to line up a '99 5.2 vs. a '01-up 4.7. I would think the difference would be nill.

I have a 99 4x4 cc 5.2L 5 speed w/ 3.55 gears and a dana trac loc I test drove a 2000 4x4 cc 4.7 5 speed 3.55 lsd it was praticaly the same truck only 1 year newer same wheels and everything. But I think my 5.2 would win even stock. mine will break the tires from a roll and the 4.7 wouldn't my 5.2 just felt stronger it would have been interesting to line them up but I think my 5.2 would win. I also beleive my pleanum gasket was getting weak them now its toast waitnng for me to finish porting my kegger or get an m-1. that was stock for stock but my 5.2 not verry stock anymore. I was compzaring it to when it was stock
