Subject: Those w/ a power programmer did it work? IP: Logged
Message: I'm taking a poll in light of the heated debate over the power programmer (see thread "Arrgh...wheres the 4.7 power programmer") Those of you who have bought and installed the power programmer, did it work?
Did u simply feel it worked?
Did u dyno it?
Did u improve times at the track?
Gtech it? etc...

Message: I used a Hypertech on my '01 QC, 5.9, 4x4. My Butt-O-Meter tells me there's a huge improvement. Better driveability, improved throttle response, and better gas mileage. The nice thing about it is that it only takes five minutes to do. So you drive it around, stop on the side of the road and reprogram, then drive it around again. Never have to get out of the truck to do it. So you can feel the differance if there is any.
I went from stock to the 89 octane tune. Big improvement. More power and better mileage. High speed passing and hill climbing are much easier. Transmission doesn't seem to hunt as much on the up hill grades.
Then I tried the the 91 octane tune. Maybe a little more power, but not as dramatic an improvement. But gas mileage went down by almost 2mpg around town. Not worth the increased cost, IMO.

Message: I bought a Hypertech for my 99 5.2L. It failed to get a read from my PCM. I tried twice. Then I called the 800 number like it said, and the technician said, "There's nothing you can do. Return it for a refund."

Message: I use a Superchips programmer on my 5.9 '00 Quadcab.
Tows better, slight increase in fuel economy, runs out better town and highway.
No dyno to date.
Worth the money IMHO,...
